What do yellow flowers *mean* to russians?

Question for Russia

I was told something after sending flowers.. this was for a romantic partner. But in america I don't think we pay attention to colors.



The color was Yellow.
What do yellow flowers *mean* to russians?
The yellow color means for us separation - if a guy gives yellow flowers to the girl it means they will separate, or he has an intention to break up with her.. Well, not everyone believes in it, but most of people do. It's the color of sadness too.. of loneliness.. U'd better not give it to the beloved person not to hurt them!

Reply:Many Americans do pay attention to the colors. I personally have no idea what they all mean, except that red means love, but I know that they all mean something, and that girls know what the colors mean too.
Reply:yes, for Russians yellow flowers mean either cheating of separation. But recently another meaning appeared and that is the gold color of a coin (and then it means you wish the person to have lots of money).

Reply:Interesting answers. In America, yellow roses mean, "Friendship" and NOT love. To give yellow roses to your best friend is nice, to give them to your fiance' would be like saying, "I think of you as a friend".
